The Porsche 991 GT3: 6 Reasons It’s (Really) Better Than the 997

Still not convinced? Here 6 reasons that will make you want one on the field
1

The 991 is the first 911 to use predominantly aluminum construction. This means that even though the car is larger than the outgoing 997 model, it is still up to 50 kilograms (110 lb) lighter. What this means for you: a better balanced racer with much more predictable handling.

2

The 991 GT3 is able to accelerate from 97 km/h (0-60 mph) in 3.1 seconds or less and has a top speed of 314 km/h (195 mph). The lap time on the Nürburgring Nordschleife is 7 minutes and 25 seconds: better than the GT2 and the Carrera GT.

3

The direct-injection flat-6 matches the character of the former Mezger unit with a naturally-aspirated 3.8 L engine that meets tough emission standards (resulting in a hard-edged race-car sound) 475 horsepower and supported by titanium connecting rods attached to forged pistons which allow the car to reach rev limit of 9000 rpm.

4

The 3.8 L engine is pushed to its limits on the GT3, it’s the most powerful atmospheric and the 2015 is the last model you’ll see with a 3.8L atmospheric in a Porsche with a power of 475 bh.

5

The PDK twin-clutch gearbox, get into race mode: shifts are clean and rapid with a sport mode that ups the speed of changes to a quick 0.1 seconds, the same as a 911 Cup racer.

6

Depending on the speed, the system steers in the opposite or the same direction as the front wheels, thereby improving agility and stability.

The ultimate circuit car

The Porsche 991 GT3 provides racetrack perfection to the common man. The technological contribution of this version and the character of this model make it the ultimate car on the circuit, with it the arms race is no longer necessary. Its coast is stable despite the arrival of the GT3 RS 4.0 model which allows you to enjoy some time without it losing its value.
